About A Dopee Story
A Dopee Story was founded by Deja Ricks and inspired by the life and creative spirit of her late brother, Dante' Long or to some Dany Dopee.
Before it was a company, it was a feeling.
It was two siblings growing up creating skits, performing in drama club, laughing through scenes, sharing ideas, and finding joy in creativity before realizing it could become purpose. It was watching a laundry room slowly turn into a homemade recording studio. It was notebooks filled with drawings, unfinished lyrics, visions, and imagination. It was seeing firsthand how art can give people a voice, a release, and a way to leave a piece of themselves behind.
After losing her brother, Deja began looking at creativity differently. Not just as entertainment, but as preservation. As memory. As proof that someone was here and that their story mattered.
That perspective became the foundation of A Dopee Story.
The company was created to document and amplify meaningful stories through documentaries, interviews, podcasts, visual storytelling, stage-to-screen productions, and creative archives rooted in emotion, community, artistry, and human connection.
At the center of the work is a love for the stories often carried through everyday life, conversations from grandparents, wisdom shared around kitchen tables, backstage moments, neighborhood memories, creative expression, and the people whose impact deserves to live beyond a moment in time.
A Dopee Story believes artists and storytellers deserve to feel supported, seen, and celebrated while they are here to experience the value of their work. Inspired by creatives like Jean-Michel Basquiat and so many others whose brilliance was more widely recognized after their passing, the company is committed to preserving stories in real time, not just in remembrance.
More than a media company, A Dopee Story exists to create living archives of people, passion, culture, and legacy — honoring where we come from while making space for future generations to make goals to be dopee in their own lives.
